Dwayne Carter better known as Lil Wayne is about to embark his new life behind bars. The Rapper returned to his hometown of New Orleans for a performance Monday on what he’s calling his farewell tour.
The 27-year-old pleaded guilty in October to a weapons possession charge and will be sentenced Feb. 9. His plea deal calls for a year in jail. The charges go back to 2007 when he was stopped in his tour bus in New York when authorities said they smelled marijuana the authorities found a loaded 40-caliber handgun.
During, Wayne’s concert the singer told fans at the New Orleans Arena that “I’m nothing without you.” Some of those at Monday’s concert said they were disappointed with the rapper’s legal troubles. Wayne is set to follow some of rap music’s biggest names in prison including, Tupac Shakur, Lil’ Kim, and Beanie Sigel.
