DIZZEE SNUBS MERCURY AWARD

News Date: 08 Sep,2010 10:39 AM
News Detail :
Dizzee Rascal snubbed the 2010 Barclaycard Mercury Prize by not performing on the night and skipping the winner's announcement to party at the GQ Awards.

The rapper, who turned up at Grosvenor House to accept his nomination gong, asked organisers to call him back to the ceremony if he won. He then shot off to Covent Garden to pick up his Best Solo Act award at GQ. The xx beat Paul Weller and Mumford & Sons to land the Mercury Prize.

The delighted band -who did perform at the ceremony - said: "It hasn't sunk in. It's incredible! Thank you so much. We've had the most incredible year. It means so much."
