SEAN PAUL
Sean Paul was born on January 9, 1973 in Kingston, Jamaica. His real name is Sean Paul Henriques and he grew up in Upper Saint Andrew Parish, near Kingston.

Although both his parents are Jamaican natives, Sean Paul has a mixed heritage: his mother’s mother was English, his mother's father was Chinese and his father's father was mixed with Portuguese and other European ethnicities.

His mother is a famous painter and Paul’s whole family were swimmers. That’s why he started swimming when he was only three. Sean was an expert athlete, shining in swimming and especially water polo, and he also played for the Jamaican national team. But his real passion was dancehall music, so he began writing his own songs and then he became a DJ.

In 1996 Sean released his debut single "Baby Girl". In 1997, he recorded with Spanner Banner the Jamaican chart-topper "Ladies Man". In 2000 Sean released his first album “Stage One” and two years later he recorded his second effort, “Dutty Rock”. With the hits "Gimme the Light" and "Get Busy", the album became a global smash and it sold over six million copies. On 27th September 2005, Sean Paul released his third album called “The Trinity”. It also includes the song "Never Gonna Be The Same" that represents Sean's tribute to his friend Daddigon, one of his best friends who was murdered on the streets of Kingston.

Sean is a symbol of Jamaica on several television programs all over the world and was the first reggae artist to appear on the cover of VIBE magazine, dressed in the national colours.
