Shawn Corey Carter aka, Jay Z is a multi-platinum recording artist with 50 million records sold worldwide and is one of the most financially successful, and famous hip hop artists to come out of America.
Originally from Marcy Houses housing project in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighbourhood of Brooklyn, Jay Z made it from hoodlum to Hollywood and is now the voice of the youths, using his music and story to encourage, educate and entertain everyone.
Elijah Kerr aka JaJa is the voice of the underground scene, with thousands of supporters, from the notorious Angell Town estate in Brixton, London.
He was the leader of London’s most notorious gang PDC which he has now converted into a leading independent record label, and is now ready to release his music to a mainstream audience.
Using his invaluable experience of being the founder of one of the most notorious gangs in the UK – The Peel Dem Crew or PDC, JaJa has profoundly turned his life upside down to ensure the young impressionable minds of today don’t follow the same path of self destruction.
Elijah was born in Birmingham in the early 1980’s and moved to Brixton, south London in the early 1990’s – family turmoil and lack of social benefits, led to his arrival into what was one of the most dangerous estates of London, Angell Town – aged only 8.
After a couple of stints in prison Jaja realised that life need not be this way for him or the next generation, on his third and final time released from prison, he instantly began making changes to envision PDC becoming famous for a different reason.
PDC is now a highly successful business involved in various projects including Music, DVD’s, Films and Mix tapes.
The inspiring tales of Elijah Kerr and his transformation has been captured in a book aptly named ‘Street Boys’ written by the BAFTA award winning writer Tim Pritchard and published by Harper Collins.
His passion for change has led him to be invited to the House of Commons to make his gun and crime prevention views heard.
Jaja’s magnetic presence makes for an enticing watch, he has appeared on London Tonight, Sky News, MTV, Channel U and the BBC, plus various radio stations including Choice FM and BBC London.
Elijah’s debut single is out in July 2008 and the new album titled ‘Street Boys’ is to be released in September 2008 is hailed to be a massive success with equally exciting music videos ‘Forever Tears’ and ‘Let it snow’ to be released shortly.
Elijah’s dynamic ideas and projects to change the life on the streets have and will take the UK Music and Press scene by storm in 2008.
